Courtyard Coffee House
Prepare for a pleasant surprise as you enter the Courtyard Coffee House and Restaurant, your first sight will be the “altar” groaning under the weight of home made cakes and scones, the second will be of the remarkable collection of over 30 antique Penny Farthings. We are lucky to have on display the renowned ‘Glynn Stockdale Collection’ – the largest collection of English made machines in the world. It features an example of the largest Penny Farthing ever built as well as a rare example from the 1890’s featuring pneumatic tyres, gears and a brake. From the earliest wooden machines to ‘transitional’ examples there is lots to see and enjoy from the madcap two decades in which these ‘built for speed’ machines dominated our roads and lanes. Back to our primary business – providing high quality, homemade, cooked to order, breakfasts, lunches and Afternoon Teas. The setting couldn’t be more picturesque, hidden away, just off the main street in a historic enclosed cobbled courtyard. We enjoy hosting events and have recently welcomed Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Retirement parties and Funeral Teas as well as being used as a TV and Film location. Our menu is extensive, with everything made to order in our kitchen. We add Specials to our main menu every day and offer gluten free cakes as well as gluten free items throughout the menu. Did I mention the large “1” Garden gauge train that circles the room at five minute intervals? It’s unique, it’s eccentric and it’s yours to enjoy! And if your children are good, we’ll give them some fishfood so they can feed the fish in our pond.
