Mayor’s Christmas Shopping Trip
Knutsford Town Mayor Cllr Stewart Gardiner is encouraging residents to shop local this Christmas and last week he and consort Simon Hutchence visited many of the town’s independent outlets to highlight what is on offer.
This year has been a difficult year for the High Street and especially so for independent traders and small chains. Knutsford is blessed with a wide range of retail outlets many of which offer items that cannot be readily found elsewhere or which are just a little bit different. This variety of shops together, provides our Town with its special character to add to its attractive historic architecture.
The message from the Town Mayor is that if we want these retailers to continue trading and making Knutsford that special place to shop, we all need to support them.
Stewart said “Last year I managed to complete all my Christmas gift shopping within the Town and I am planning to do the same this year. I hope many of you will recognise that often the best gifts to buy are those you did not realise were available and on your own doorstep too.”
The Mayor’s sojourn took him to Cheshire Quality, Bamboo Boutique, Clarity Contemporary Jewellery, Hal Whittaker, Kanoa Living, Knutsford Art Shop & Stationery House, Mr Simms, Oliver Wilde, PR Jones, Pulse of Perfumery, Riva Menswear, Serenity Designs, Simon Boyd, Suzie Watson and Woods Butchers of Knutsford.
Stewart added “I found my visit to the shops in our Town Centre to be a very pleasant experience. Providing me with an opportunity to talk to the traders whilst perusing their shelves, which also proved invaluable; providing me with lots of ideas for what to buy those closest to me, because beforehand I was somewhat at a loss about what to buy. “
As well as a wide range of shops, Knutsford is lucky to still benefit from a Market Hall, so the Mayor visited the traders and some customers taking a break at the café. Whilst there he visited Slipped Discs, Plastic Free Weigh, the Market Butchers and Jonty’s Fruit and Veg.
Knutsford really can meet all your shopping needs this Christmas; at a price to suit all pockets. Even within our more niche outlets you will be surprised at how reasonable they are. Stewart said.
